I must find a solution for my two Yorkies fighting. Since the older dog who was the alpha male was put down the other two appear to be fighting for dominance, affection and food.
I have been dog bit several time trying to break them apart. They get into a death grip and if i don't intervene that they would not stop and one would kill the other.
Can someone give me help on what to do?

Another good tip is throwing your jacket or if you have a towel or blanket over the aggressor then you can get the other dog away and control over the aggressive dog

Great article, and living in Florida, those points are excellent, as there are a lot of Pit Bulls here, not to just pick on them, but they are very strong and dangerous. Just yesterday, an 8 month child was killed by a Pit. She was at her Grandmother’s, who had three Pits, and one attacked her, so sad. For me, not being experienced, I doubt I would get involved in a dog fight, unless I knew the dog, but in no way, a Pit Bull. There is one question maybe you answer for me. My neighbor has a male Yorkie and my wife and I spend a lot of time with him, walk, feed, etc. We live in a Condo, where there are many different breeds. This Yorkie, Max, gets along fine with most dogs, but there is one female Sheltie/ herdind mix type dog and they hate each other. Max can see her 75 yards away and stars barking and pulling on the leash to get at her. My question is: would Max ever really attack her if I accidently dropped the leash? The Sheltie is barking and pulling just as hard to get at Max. Do you think they would fight or just run up to each other and stop, which I doubt? It’s funny, the Sheltie, is very friendly to me and others, but hates Max just as much. You would think that a male and female would get along, ha! Thanks for your input and any tips how I can get Max to chill when he sees her?
